Dave Briggs - Owner of SkyTribe has been in the paragliding world since 1987. A Biochemist by profession he now flies advertising for various companies and builds motorised paragliders. He has flown fixed wings, has held instructor ratings in paragliding, paramotors and holds a master scuba diving rating and reached instructor level in microlighting. After having taught diving in Australia and Zanzibar he operated a white water rafting company on the Tugela river Natal South Africa. As a junior he won the South African long distance canoeing title and was part of 1990 kayak expedition to the Congo river Zaire. In 1997 he and a fellow pilot flew their paramotors working their way from central Africa down Tanzania, along Lake Malawi and crossing over Victoria falls into Zimbabwe. 2003 saw South Africa's first group circumnavigation by microlight.
It was from the sport of flying that Dave decided to write what is still today the largest ebook supplied on disk in full color (and printable on most home pcs- (see library on this site) on the sport of micro flight (micro lights, paragliding and powered paragliding). It was this cost effective option of ebook publishing that launched this comprehensive book world wide into virtually every corner of the globe.
From here it was a natural progression to document in ‘hard cover or conventional’ book format, a humorous account of all his adventures involving many of the extreme sports Dave participated in (see library on this site). Battling to find an appropriate publisher and not willing to part with their high commission fees together with little control over the publishing process, he launched himself together with Avril Hattingh into the process of self publishing. It is this journey together with what they have experienced that is described on the self publishing CD found in the library section of this site.
Avril Joan Hattingh - Avril Joan Hattingh has been writing, selling and producing poetry for many years in various different forms ie handmade bookmarks, handmade cards and decoupaged candles. She has also written poems by request for special occassions and her poetry is read both locally and overseas. Her delightful book "Mom, your door never closes" is a collection of inspiring poems dedicated to moms in apprection of their hard work. This little book is filled with inspiration, love and spiritual blessings and is also available as an audio book.
